Television announced in 2023 that executive producer Chuck Lorre would be creating a new comedy series based on The Big Bang Theory universe. No split or casting details were announced at the time-and the studio has preferred to keep it that way. The Big Bang Theory, which aired from 2007 to 2019, starred Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch as a group of friends made up of scientists and their significant others.
