Good Morning America

The singer announced in a press release Monday that she will perform a residency-style run of shows at Paris La Défense Arena beginning Sept. 12, marking her first full concerts in years as she continues to managestiff-person syndrome.

The concerts were teased in March through a poster campaign across Paris featuring the titles of some of Dion's most famous songs, including "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" and "Power of Love," before the shows were officially confirmed.

In a statement included in Monday's press release, Dion said, "Over the last few years, every day that's gone by, I've felt your prayers and support, your kindness and love. You've helped me in ways that I can't even describe, and I'm truly fortunate to have your support."

"This year, I'm getting the best birthday gift of my life…I'm getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September!" she continued. "I'm feeling good, I'm strong, I'm feeling excited, obviously a little nervous, but most of all, I'm grateful to all of YOU! I love you all and I'll see you soon!"

ABC News reached out to Dion's representative for comment but did not immediately receive a response.

The Paris shows mark a long-awaited return to the venue for Dion, who was originally scheduled to bring her Courage World Tour there in 2020. Those dates were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and later canceled following Dion's 2022 diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that includes rigidity and stiffness of certain areas of the body, causing unsteadiness, slower movements and difficulties walking.

The diagnosis forced her to cancel multiple subsequent tour dates across North America, Europe and the U.K.

Dion's health journey was documented in the 2024 film"I Am: Celine Dion,"where the singer spoke candidly about how much performing means to her.

"When you record, it sounds great. But when you go on stage, it will be greater. I think we did create our own magic," she said in the film.

She also reflected on the emotional toll of canceling shows due to her health.

"It's not hard to do a show, you know. It's hard to cancel a show," Dion said, adding that while her condition had kept her off the stage, she had no plans to give up.

"I'm working hard every day, but I have to admit: It's been a struggle. I miss it so much. The people, I miss them," she said at the time. "If I can't run, I'll walk. If I can't walk, I'll crawl. And I won't stop. I won't stop."

Guardians Dodgers Baseball

The right-hander allowed one run and four hits over four innings of a4-2 lossto the Cleveland Guardians on Monday night. Sasaki struck out four and walked two in his first major league start since May 9.

He walked 15 batters duringspring training, raising concerns about his ability to perform as a starter.

"I actually didn't have the confidence at all when this game started," Sasaki said through a translator, "but I was just focusing on doing what I can control."

José Ramírez, Cleveland's best hitter, singled in the first inning before Sasaki got him on a swinging strikeout in the third with runners on first and second and the Dodgers trailing 1-0.

"It should be a big boost to his confidence," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said. "He's a confident player, but when you don't have success, it's hard to have real confidence. But when you perform, you start to build true confidence, so hopefully he can build on this one."

Roberts detected Sasaki's self-doubt in the first inning, when the 24-year-old pitcher got two quick outs before Ramírez singled and stole second.

"It was a wait-and-see kind of demeanor in the sense of you know what you're supposed to do, know what you want to do, and until you actually do it, holding your breath a little bit," the manager said. "Once he got out of that inning he was like, 'OK, I can do this,' and then wanted to go out there and keep doing it."

Dalton Rushing, the 25-year-old backup to catcher Will Smith, called the game behind the plate while Smith got the night off.

Rushing used the time walking in from the bullpen with Sasaki to pump him up.

"I told him it was just me and him, just kind of tunnel vision to an extent and trust what you do," Rushing said. "You were a really good pitcher for a long time in Japan for a reason. You've been a great pitcher for us last year down the stretch."

Sasaki was supposed to be the next big thing coming out of Nippon Professional Baseball. He signed with the Dodgers in January 2025, but by mid-May he was on the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

After a long rehab assignment in the minors, he rejoined the Dodgers in late September as a reliever. He made eight starts and two relief appearances overall, going 1-1 with a 4.46 ERA, 28 strikeouts and 22 walks.

His best moments as a rookie came out of the bullpen. He earned his first professional save closing out the first game of the National League Division Series against Philadelphia. He pitched in three games in the series, earning two saves and then working three perfect innings in relief in the clinching fourth game.

In the World Seriesagainst Toronto, Sasaki pitched 2 2/3 innings over two games, and Los Angeles went on to win in seven games.

Sasaki remains intent on making it as a starter, and the Dodgers are giving him the chance to find himself again.

"The goal is to keep going deeper in games," Roberts said. "I know he was a little bit nervous going into this start about what to expect. He responded well."

Rushing called it "a very big step forward" for Sasaki.

"We're going to build off this," the catcher said. "We're going to sit down and talk, see what we could have done better, refine some things and look forward to having him out there next time."

Japan deploys its first long-range missiles

TOKYO (AP) — Japan's first long-rangemissilewas deployed at a southwestern army camp, officials said Tuesday, as the country pushes to bolster its offensive capabilities.

Associated Press

The upgraded Type-12 land-to-ship missiles, developed and produced by Japan's Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, became operational at Camp Kengun in Kumamoto prefecture.

"As Japan faces the most severe and complex security environment in the postwar era ... it is an extremely important capability to strengthen Japan's deterrence and responsiveness," Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi told reporters. "It demonstrates Japan's firm determination and capability to defend itself."

The upgraded Type-12 missile has a range of about 1,000 kilometers (620 miles), a significant extension from the 200-kilometer (125-mile) range of the original that would allow it to reach mainland China.

The deployment of the long-range missile gives Japan a "standoff" capability, meaning it can strike enemy missile bases from afar, marking a break from the self-defense-only policy the country long followed under its pacifist constitution.

Residents opposing the deployment near the residential area staged protests outside the Kengun camp, saying it would escalate tension and increases risks the area could be targeted by potential enemies.

Japan rolls out more weapons systems to protect southwestern islands

Also Tuesday, a hypersonic glide vehicle, a new weapons system designed for island defense, was deployed to Camp Fuji in the Shizuoka prefecture, west of Tokyo. Additional deployment of the upgraded Type-12 missiles and HGVs at other locations in Japan, including Hokkaido in the north and Miyazaki in the south, are planned by March 2028.

Japan also plans to deploy U.S.-made, 1,600-kilometer (990-mile)-rangeTomahawk cruise missileson Japanese destroyer JS Chokai later this year, and eventually on seven other destroyers.

Takaichi boosts defense spending to counter China

Japan considers China its main regional security threat and has fortified the country's southwestern islands near the East China Sea in recent years.

Prime MinisterSanae Takaichi's Cabinet in December approveda record defense budget planexceeding 9 trillion yen ($58 billion) for the fiscal year beginning April and aims to fortify its strike-back capability and coastal defense with cruise missiles and unmanned arsenals.

Japan last June spottedtwo Chinese aircraft carriersalmost simultaneously operating near Japanese remote islands in the Pacific for the first time, sparking Tokyo's concern about Beijing's military activity stretching far beyond its borders.

The defense minster last week announced the establishment of a new office dedicated to studying China's Pacific activity.

Tensions have escalated further sinceTakaichi's statementin November that any Chinese military action against Taiwan could be grounds for a Japanese military response.

11-Year-Old Boy with Down Syndrome Celebrates Being Cancer Free 2 Years After Leukemia Diagnosis

  • Levi Buxman, who also has Down syndrome, was supported by his classmates as he rang a bell to celebrate

  • The child was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia in November 2023

An Ohio community is celebrating a young boy who is now cancer-free after years of hospitalizations and rough moments linked to his disease.

At 9 years old, Levi Buxman was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on Nov. 5, 2023, according to aGoFundMe.

On March 20, the now-11-year-old, who also has Down syndrome, was surrounded by students and staff at Green Elementary in Smithville after he rang his bell at Akron Children's Hospital to celebrate being cancer-free.

Levi paraded down the hallway, giving out high-fives as his classmates cheered him on, as shown in a video of his special moment broadcast byWKYCon March 26.

The fifth grader loves listening anddancing toMichael Jackson, and wore a red and black jacket that reads "Just beat it" on the back, a nod to him beating cancer.

His mother, Lauren Buxman, spoke to the news station about the day she found out about her eldest son's diagnosis, initially thinking it was the flu.

"I took him to the ER and with leukemia, they can detect it with a blood test," she told the news station. "So within a couple hours, we had a diagnosis and then he didn't come home again for 70 days."

In the GoFundMe, loved ones said his diagnosis came "wildly unexpected and sudden."

For Lauren, it was even harder to face alone because her husband Branden Buxman was away at the time. He was on the road back from a hunting trip in Colorado when she found out about Levi's diagnosis.

In the last two years, Levi has spent nearly 267 nights in the hospital and suffered a stroke that left doctors wondering how he survived.

Outside of his medical condition, Lauren wondered if her child would ever live a normal life with friends. And then he met one — a boy named Liam in the oncology unit at Akron Children's Hospital.

"They had some kind of weird relationship where one of them would show up at the hospital and just for an acute illness and they'd end up staying for weeks and the other one would be right behind them," Lauren said of Liam and Levi's friendship.

But when Liam died in May 2025, Levi struggled with his best friend not being there when it was time to ring his bell.

That's when his community stepped up.

"One of my biggest fears when we had Levi and got his Down syndrome diagnosis was that he wouldn't have friends, that kids would be cruel and he just wouldn't be seen," Lauren said.

"When we did the clap out, just seeing how much the kids love him and the kids were seeking him out for high fives and hugs and calling his name, it warms my heart to see that the kids see him for who he is," his mom added.

Martha Stewart confronts New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson for breaking her big toe: 'It wasn't okay at all'

It wasn't a "very good thing" whenMartha Stewartbroke her big toe at a New York Knicks game last May.

The lifestyle guru was sitting courtside at Madison Square Garden when the home team's point guard, Jalen Brunson, dove for a ball out of bounds — and "crashed" right into 84-year-old Stewart, who was wearing open-toe sandals.

As her big toe throbbed in pain, she knew immediately the 190-pound athlete had broken the bone.

Nearly a year later, she recently got the chance to confront Brunson on his podcast,Roommates Show, cohosted by his teammate Josh Hart.

The two-time NBA All-Star was deeply apologetic, although admitted he didn't remember the moment, which went down as the Knicks squared off against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

As Stewart recounted, Brunson not only landed on her, he even sat on her lap.

"You jumped up really fast. And I remember saying to you, 'It's okay.' You had no idea that you had hurt me. I didn't say you hurt me, but I said, 'It's okay.' It wasn't okay at all."

After the game — which went into overtime, much to her painful chagrin — Stewart headed straight to the Hospital for Special Surgery on Manhattan's Upper East Side to have her toe checked out.

"They've named it the 'Stewart-Brunson fracture,'" she joked. "I have an X-ray, I'm going to leave you a picture of it... it was actually a break, so anyways, it's better now… It took one year to heal."

Stewart previouslytold the storyonThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and revealed she actually ran into the NBA star's parents, Knicks assistant coach Rick Brunson and his wife Sandra, in the Hamptons. And she couldn't help but tell them what their son did. "They were laughing," she told Fallon. "They thought it was so funny."

Brunson now adds a little more to the story: His dad FaceTimed him to virtually apologize to Stewart. He later also sent her a basketball, which she gave to her grandson.

In the end, there's no bad blood — and Stewart learned a valuable lesson.

"It's my fault for wearing open-toe shoes to a basketball game," she reasoned. "I look back at it as just something silly, stupid, and funny. It was stupid of me."

Springsteen performed his recently written song, "Streets of Minneapolis," which he penned over a weekend in January as a reaction to the fatal shootings of Minneapolis residentsRenee Good and Alex Pretti.

"This past winter, federal troops brought death and terror to the streets of Minneapolis. Well, they picked the wrong city. The power and the solidarity of the people of Minneapolis, of Minnesota, was an inspiration to the entire country," Springsteen said, and then added of Good and Pretti, "Their bravery, their sacrifice, and their names will not be forgotten."
