  • The frontman for the rock and metalcore band Beartooth said it has been "difficult to navigate" his feelings and "figure out what to do" with them.

  • "This is something I've been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now," the Ohio-based musician wrote.

Singer Caleb Shomo has come out as gay.

The frontman for the rock and metalcore band Beartooth shared alengthy statement on Instagramon Saturday reflecting on his sexuality.

"There's been a lot of speculation surrounding my personal life as of late, and I feel compelled to set the record straight before it affects those I love any further," Shomo wrote. "I am a proudly gay man. This is something I've been unpacking and reckoning with in my life for quite some time now. It's been difficult to navigate the feelings surrounding the subject and figure out what to do with this fact."

Shomo, the only member of Beartooth who has remained in the lineup since he founded it in 2013, went on to explain how his sexuality has impacted his artistic voice. "I have always strived to chase who I am in the deepest part of my soul from album to album," he wrote. "As you could gather if you've followed the band at all in the earlier years, there are four very self-deprecating albums about exploring my religious upbringing, depression, self-hatred, self-loathing, and hopelessness."

The singer said he doesn't regret his early work, but he also doesn't think the music was a completely honest reflection of his true self. "I am grateful for all these albums," he wrote, "yet feel embarrassed at times that I wouldn't allow myself to really dig up the roots for so long."

Shomo explained that his journey to embracing his sexuality was a long one. "I spent a decade burying feelings with alcohol, and honestly when I decided to put it down and focus on exploring why I felt this way for so long, it's been a direct path to me reconciling with my sexuality in hopes that it will eventually lead to me experiencing self-love," he wrote.

Beartooth's sixth studio album,Pure Ecstasy, will be different from the Ohio-based group's previous output. "One thing I decided before I wrote a single note or lyric of the upcoming album is that whatever happens, I will express myself wholeheartedly and fully," the singer said. "Wherever it takes me, I will follow, and I refuse to water any part of it down, from the music, to the lyrical content, and way I portray myself. I will only do what makes me happy at the deepest level and what is the most honest depiction of who I am."

Shomo said he thinks it's "impossible to love every part" of yourself if you don't first "face every part of you head-on," adding, "I am trying to finally be proud of who I am, and I think this is a massive part of that journey."

The singer also shared his gratitude for everyone who has helped him along the way: "To those who have shown me love — empowerment through living life freely and openly in my presence, supporting the queer community, or simply telling me you love me whoever I am — I am forever in your debt, and I hope you know what you mean to me."

Shomo concluded his remarks with words of advice for others on the road to self-discovery. "I encourage anyone who's struggling with who they are to give yourself grace," he said. "Give yourself patience. Be honest with yourself. Do the hard work instead of burying it down as deep as you physically can, thinking it will change like I did. Holding these things in only hurts you and those around you. Love you all, and hopefully this is a step in the right direction to loving myself one day."

An image of an Instagram story started going around on Saturday that showed Hurts calling himself a "proud Democrat" soon afterDart introduced Trump at a recent New York rally.

Is this real? No, it's not. The account "NFL Drop" shared this to X (Twitter), one labeled as a satirical profile. Fake Instagram stories have been going around lately to trick people into buying baloney, as this one does. It's not real.

Hurts has not publicly commented on the Dart-Trump introduction. This is all a fake controversy.

How Brendan Wayne channeled his grandfather, John Wayne, in his “Mandalorian” performance

The Mandalorian and Grogu actor Brendan Wayne is sharing how he brought a bit of his grandfather, John Wayne, to his portrayal of the bounty hunter.

Key Points

  • The actor, who shares the role with Pedro Pascal and Lateef Crowder, tells Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to make sure every one of Mando's movements counted.

  • "The more I became like my grandfather, the more I became like the samurai that he studied," he said.

The Mandalorian and Grogustar Brendan Wayne is sharing how his grandfather,John Wayne, influenced his performance as the titular stoic bounty hunter.

The actor, who physically embodies Mando alongsidePedro Pascal(who voices the character and plays him without the helmet) and Lateef Crowder (who handles the stuntwork), tellsEntertainment Weeklythat he had to learn to be present in a scene to play the heavily armored character on the Emmy-winningStar Warsseries.

"I had to really learn stillness, and it's really been one of the greatest things I've learned as an actor," Wane says. "For me, that journey, I always fought that because my grandfather was exceptional at being present and radiating whatever [was happening around him].John Fordloved to say to him, 'The less I give you, Duke, the better the movie is going to be.' It sounds like a slight, but it was more about if you just be there, it's as powerful as anything."

The Mandalorian and Grogu in 'The Mandalorian'Credit: Lucasfilm

He found himself bringing a bit of his grandfather's serenity to the character when working with directors Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa on the first three seasons ofThe Mandalorian.

"When they were directing me, the more still I became, the more I became like my grandfather, the more I became like the samurai that he studied," Wayne says. "Every movement had a meaning; you don't waste them. And with samurai, every movement is a kill movement."

Which is exactly how Mando operates, too. "That's Mando. Those are the precepts that he works upon," he notes, "and so to have that trust in yourself that whatever you're living in that moment — if I'm working with Katee [Sackhoff] as Bo-Katan or Emily Swallow — as long as you're present, that's 90 percent of the work."

It was also important to Wayne that Mando always appear calm and collected — even when the cameras weren't rolling.

"I would get to set two and a half, three hours early, I'd do my workout, and then I'd go spend an hour at least walking the set, because I never wanted Mando to fall down in front of the crew," he says. "I wanted him to be as smooth as my grandfather, Clint Eastwood, or Yul Brynner inWestworld. I wanted him as smooth as could be so that every movement did matter."

As fate would have it, he's not the only member of the Wayne family who's part of theStar Warsuniverse. He toldPEOPLEthat he was completely unaware, when singing on to play Mando, that his grandfather's voice had been used for the Galactic Empire spy Garindan ezz Zavor inA New Hope.

"Back in the day, when we used film, they found the soundtrack on the ground in the editing room," he said. "And they knew it was fromTrue Grit. They took his voice [from stock audio], and they did whatever they do, their magic."

But don't worry, Wayne is completely fine with "riding the coattails of my grandfather" when it comes to playing a role in a galaxy far, far away. "I had hoped I might have been able to be the first in this," he teased, "but no, sadly, I was still second.'"

The Mandalorian and Groguis in theaters now.

Phil Collins gives rare update on his health struggles, reveals if he'll ever tour or release new music again

Phil Collins has given a rare update on his debilitating health struggles, which have left him unable to play the drums.

Key Points

  • The British musician — who'll be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November — revealed if he plans to release new music or ever tour again.

  • In January, Collins said he has a 24-hour live-in nurse to help him manage his medications after years of health setbacks.

Phil Collinshas struggled with debilitating health issues in recent years, but his days of performing may not be over.

The legendary singer and drummer offered a rare update on his physical condition this week, specifically addressing how it has affected his plans to release new music and tour again.

Though he'll be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work in a ceremony this November, Collins won't be celebrating the honor with a set of his greatest hits. "They asked me if I would perform," he said in aninterview with the U.K.’sBBC Breakfaston Friday. "And I said no. You've gotta be match fit to do something like that. You can't just go on stage. You're gonna have to rehearse, and then by that point, if you've not been singing your voice is gonna be shot, and then that's not gonna be good. So I'd rather not do it."

Collins hasn't played live since hisGrammy-winning prog-rock band, Genesis, wrapped their Last Domino Tour in March 2022. This past January, he revealed thathe has a live-in nurse to assist with his medications and is under 24-hour care, partly due to complications from a 2007 spinal injury that caused lasting nerve damage, leaving him unable to play the drums (his son Nic filled in for him during the Genesis tour while he handled vocals). He also said he'd undergone five surgeries on his knee, making it difficult for him to walk, and that he'd gotten sober after he'd developed kidney problems because of his heavy drinking.

If the British musician hasn't recovered enough to perform at the Rock Hall ceremony, Collins hasn't totally ruled out returning to the stage one day. "I can't really see it happening,” he toldBBC Breakfast, "but I'm healthier now than I have been for quite a while."

Upon further reflection, Collins was more optimistic. "Whether or not I would go out again… I would contemplate, yeah," he said. "I mean, I'm constantly saying to myself, 'I've got to go back down into my studio at home.'"

A new album would mark Collins' first release of original music since his 2002 record,Testify. While he has nothing concrete on the horizon, he does have some material brewing. "I've got lots of lyrical ideas that I write down, and there are things that are half-formed and a couple of things that are finished," he said. "So, you know, there's things that I can get my teeth into to start working on."

While he has kept a low profile since wrapping the Genesis tour, Collinsmade a rare public appearancein London last weekend. His ex-wife Jill Collinsshared a photo on Instagram of themwithRod Stewartand his wife, Penny Lancaster, at Buckingham Palace as they celebrated the 50th anniversary of the youth charity The King's Trust.

In an interview earlier this month, Collins said he was surprised to learn he'd beeninducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, especially considering Genesis had already been inducted in 2010. "I've always followed up after [Genesis was inducted] — the results of who got in and who didn't," he told host Eddie Trunk on the SiriusXM showTrunk Nation. "But I'd kind of thought that that was it for me. I didn't expect it. And I'm very, very flattered and pleased that I was thought of… It’s very nice to be there."

  • The actress underwent surgery to restore her vision and shared how the condition impacted her mental and physical health

  • Hathaway expressed gratitude for modern medical advancements and reflected on the "miracle" of regaining her sight

Anne Hathawayis opening up about her struggles with her vision for the first time.

During an April 22 appearance onThe New York Times' podcastPopcast, theDevil Wears Prada 2actress, 43, revealed to hosts Jon Caramanica and Joe Coscarelli that she was "legally blind" in one eye for a decade.

"This is maybe too much information," she quipped before sharing her story. "I was half blind for 10 years."

According to Hathaway, she had an early onset cataract from ages 30 to 40, which the Mayo Clinic defines as a clouding of the lens of the eye, which is typically clear.

"For people who have cataracts, seeing through cloudy lenses is often like looking through a frosty or fogged-up window," theMayo Clinicexplains. "Clouded vision caused by cataracts can make it hard to read, drive a car at night or see the expression on a friend's face."

For theMother Marystar, the condition impacted her vision "so much that I was basically legally blind out of my left eye" — and caused her somesevere stress, she said.

"I wound up getting surgery," she shared. "And I didn't realize how bad it had gotten until I could finally see the full spectrum."

"I've calmed down since then," Hathaway added. "I didn't realize it was actually taxing my nervous system."

According to the Mayo Clinic, cataracts are common particularly as people age, but surgery is often required to correct the issue in younger patients.

Legal blindness is also defined by the Social Security Administration (SSA) as severe vision loss, according to theCleveland Clinic. A person who is legally blind either has 20/200 or worse eyesight, even with correction, or they have a field of view that’s no more than 20 degrees wide.

"I appreciate vision because I literally feel like every day, I wake up and I get to see the way that I do, it's a miracle," the actress continued. "I actually am like, 'Oh, two generations back, that wouldn't have been an option for someone like me.' So, I actually do feel very connected to that kind of a miracle."

Hathaway has been candid about other aspects of her health in recent weeks.

In aninterview withEllepublished on Thursday, May 21, she spoke for the first time aboutrumors surrounding whether or not she's undergone recent plastic surgery— and shared that she has a "preference" to "never comment on anything" and "not draw attention" to herself.

"We’re at a time when people feel very confident in assuming what they think is fact, and sometimes what they think is accurate and sometimes it’s not," Hathaway said, after being asked if hertutorial for getting a lifted look through a certain braided hairstylewas her way of shutting down the rumor mill.

"...The speculation has gotten so loud that you do feel the need to just get your truth out there," she continued. "And I’ll probably always wonder, ‘Should I have posted that or not? Should I have just kept going and done the thing that makes me happy and makes me feel more confident on the red carpet?’ But I felt like the conversation was becoming distracting."

“Also, by the way, these are huge medical decisions that people are presuming,” she added. “I wanted to show that like, no, I didn’t make a huge medical decision. It’s just two braids.”

She then confessed, "By the way, the other thing about all this is, I might still get a facelift someday."

  • Jacques, who faces murder charges in connection with Couch's death, is now on trial

Police have revealed that an unusual piece of evidence was key to tracking down the alleged killer of influencer Beauty Couch.

In August 2023, the 22-year-old content creator was found near her burning car in Austell, Ga., in the Atlanta area; her boyfriend, Eugene Tobi Louis Jacques, was arrested two days later. He faces six charges, including murder, arson and aggravated assault, in connection with Couch's death, perWALB News 10.

According to the outlet, his lawyer claimed in court that there is no evidence linking Jacques to the killing, when his trial first began on Tuesday, May 19.

On Thursday, May 21, an investigator with the Cobb County Police Department testified that police found a traffic ticket at the scene of the crime, mere feet away from Couch's dead body, which belonged to Jacques and included the license plate number for his vehicle,Atlanta News Firstreported.

Police then tracked Jacques's vehicle to a parish in Louisiana, where he was pulled over and arrested two days later, the outlet reported.

During the trial, police also played previously unseen body camera footage of Jacques's arrest. In the clip, he can be heard allegedly giving authorities a fake name, Mykael Waters, per Atlanta News First. Detectives also testified that they found a Boost Mobile phone receipt and a completed job application for a Louisiana golf course, both under the alias, in his car.

Per WALB News 10, Jacques's attorney, Bryan Lumpkin, argued in court that there was no DNA evidence linking him to his late girlfriend's death. “Do they actually have evidence of Eugene at the location where that body was found?” Lumpkin said. “He's in the area. He's in Austell. No doubt. He was there a lot because he went over to see Beauty all the time.”

Colbert announced in July 2025 that CBS had canceled his show in a move that the network called "purely a financial decision against a challenging backdrop in late night." "I mean, that's it. We're there. We're the last thing you see. A lot of things happen in a day, but we bat last, and so we get the last take that people hear before they go to bed, and I hope it made their day better."

Linda Perry Says She Didn't Think Christina Aguilera Was Right to Sing 'Beautiful' at First: 'No, You're Like, a Hot Chick'

Linda Perry doubted Christina Aguilera was the right fit for her song "Beautiful" — until she heard her sing it

  • "That's when I discovered... 'Oh, beautiful people are actually insecure and just as damaged as I am,'" she said

  • "Beautiful" was featured on Stripped and won a Grammy in 2004

Linda Perrydidn't thinkChristina Aguilerawas the right fit for her song "Beautiful" — but the pop star quickly proved her wrong.

During an appearance on theZach Sang Showon Friday, May 8, Perry opened up about how she felt when Aguilera first sang her song "Beautiful," which was eventually featured on Aguilera's 2002 recordStripped.

Shortly after Perry, 61, wrote "Beautiful," Aguilera, 45, visited her in the studio and she played her a demo of the song.

"She was like, 'Okay I want that.' And I'm thinking in my mind, 'No, you're like, a hot chick. I'm not giving you this song. No way. Are you kidding me?'" Perry recalled.

Then, Perry's manager suggested she let the pop star sing it. When she did, the song took on a whole new meaning for the singer-songwriter.

"It made sense," Perry said. "That's when I discovered... Oh, beautiful people are actually insecure and just as damaged as I am."

She continued, "She's just as f---ed up as I am. Okay. And then it broke the ice between the both of us when I saw that."

Perry said that she then forced Aguilera to keep the demo they recorded because of how raw it was — even after the "Genie in a Bottle" singer begged her to re-record.

"That's the version that sold me [and] made me believe she had emotions. That she was insecure, that she was lacking in confidence in certain places, that she needed acceptance and approval," she said. "I said, 'Christina, what is wonderful about this vocal is you didn't know what you were doing. That's why it's going to be huge, because so many people are going to relate to this imperfect vocal. That's what this song is about. Not being perfect... I think that's an art that needs to come back.'"

In 2004, "Beautiful" won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance at the Grammy Awards, and was nominated for Song of the Year. The song also peaked at No. 2 on theBillboardHot 100.

On the 20th anniversary ofStripped, Aguilerareleased an updated music videofor the hit song featuring young children tied to their phones. The pop star didn't appear in the video but she did share a message about the anniversary at the very end.

"In the last 20 years, sinceStrippedwas first released, social media has transformed our relationship with our bodies, and in turn our mental health," the message read. "Research suggests that time spent on social networking sites is associated with body image issues, self-harm and disordered eating in children and teens. This needs to change."

NEED TO KNOW

  • The band previously faced extreme turbulence on a flight to a music festival, sharing the ordeal on Instagram

  • The group won Group of the Year at the ACMs and performed their song “Demons in Your Choir”

The Red Clay Strays had a rocky road getting to the2026 ACM Awards.

The musicians said on the red carpet that they “almost died” while en route to the show after their private jet suffered technical difficulties.

The band was asked byYahoo Entertainmenton May 17 what the “most country thing” they'd done that week was, and guitarist Zach Rishel was quick to answer.

“We almost died in that private jet. Part of our engine cowling flew off during takeoff,” he explained.

Bassist Andrew Bishop said the jet circled above Mobile, Ala. for about two hours in order to lose enough fuel to land again and get the band onto a different plane to Las Vegas.

Drummer John Hall then showed a photo of the broken engine, and emphasized that the issue happened “in the air.”

“It was terrifying,” Hall said.

The Red Clay Strays won Group of the Year at the ACMs, and also performed “Demons in Your Choir.”

The ACMs incident is not the first time the band has had trouble in the skies. In October, they shared video of extreme turbulence on a flight taking them to a country music festival in Salt Lake City, Utah.

In the clip, which was shared toInstagram, the frightened band members held on tight as the plane shook due to extreme winds.

At one point, Bishop played the Lynyrd Skynyrd song “That Smell” from his phone, quipping that if the plane was going to go down, “It's gonna go down to Skynyrd.”

Lynyrd Skynyrd was famously involved in a 1977 plane crash in Mississippi that killed six people, including band members Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines.

Elsewhere in the video, band members can be heard saying they'll be “drinking to that, boys!” and that someone threw up due to the turbulence.

“Apparently we hit an over 40 degree bank while trying to land in Salt Lake😬 Naturally as we thought the plane was going down, @good_time_andy thought it was a good time to play some Skynyrd,” the group captioned the post. “Seriously though, very thankful to our pilots @james_pruitt56 @pruittjlr45 for their quick-thinking and coolness under pressure. Y'all rock!”

Snooki says she was 'planning her funeral' after cancer diagnosis: 'I definitely had a breakdown'

  • She recalled thinking, "I got to get my will in place. What's going to happen? Like, planning my funeral."

  • However, the reality star felt reassured after learning more about others' experiences: "I'm going to be okay."

Nicole "Snooki" Polizziis reflecting on her cancer diagnosis.

TheJersey Shorestar discussed her health scare in an interview with Kristin Cavallari on theLet's Be Honestpodcast.

"Like, 'Hi, am I dying? What is going on?'" she remembered. "I definitely had a breakdown. Like, oh my God, what am I going to do? I got to get my will in place. What's going to happen? Like, planning my funeral. I was being so dramatic."

However, the reality star said that she felt much calmer after learning about the general trends for stage 1 cervical cancer, which has a92% survival rate, according to the University of Kansas Cancer Center.

"I did research, and I was like, 'This is so common for women and no one really talks about it,'" Snooki remembered. "And I'm going to be okay because, you know, there's things I have to do and I'll be fine. Because stage 1 is like the best-case scenario. So yeah, I just have to get a hysterectomy and then just have to watch it for the rest of my life. "

Snooki said that she originally didn't plan to go public with her diagnosis. "I didn't think I was going to tell anyone just like my close family. And that's it," she said. "Let's deal with this like no one's going to know."

However, she felt a responsibility to share her story because she believes personal testimonies are helpful and reassuring to people receiving a new diagnosis.

"When you Google it, it's just like words. It's like Wikipedia words like 'This is what's going to happen,'" she remembered. "I needed someone to be relatable and talk about their experience. So I went on TikTok, and there's just so many women saying, 'I just got diagnosed with stage 1. This is what I have to do.' And then other TikToks saying how they got a hysterectomy. It wasn't that bad, but you know, I have to rest."

She continued, "I feel like I need to tell my story because I literally looked for these women to make me feel better. So why not talk about it? Because nobody talks about it. And it's so common."

The reality star said that she's planning on receiving a hysterectomy this summer after she finishes production on her Paramount+ showCanada Shore.

"I talked to the doctor. So all my friends and my family's yelling at me like, 'Who cares about work? You gotta just get this done,'" she explained. "But when you have a TV show, you can't just move production. It's already set in stone. I have to go to Canada."

Snooki is unconcerned with her cancer advancing. "I think it's fine. I just want to get the show done. It's almost done," she said. "And I talked to the doctor, and I'm like, 'Can this escalate to stage 2 overnight?' And he's like, 'No, it'll take a couple of years. I think you're okay to hold off 'til summer.' So I got the okay from the doctor."
