The Steam Deck’s brutal price hike is another crisis for the video game industry

Much like everything nowadays, video games have become an expensive hobby to keep. Prices for current generation games continue to rise, with regular editionstopping out at $70for certain games. The PlayStation 5 recently underwenta major price hikethat saw a $200 increase to its PS5 Pro model, which when released in November 2024 wasone of the most expensive consoles ever.

USA TODAY

And now, Valve has jumped into the mix with its own massive price hike, as the company announced on Wednesday that the popular Steam Deck handheld will have its own $200-plus increase starting immediately.

"Steam Deck OLED is back in stock, with a price increase for both models due to rising memory and storage costs," Valve saidon the Steam store page."Steam Deck itself hasn't changed; these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole. We’ll keep you updated if anything changes."

The Steam Deck previously had three models, but the original LCD model released in 2022 wasdiscontinued in Decemberin favor of the two OLED editions. Both OLED editions have increased in price with this recent news.

This price hike is yet another blow to gamers and the video game industry as a whole.Hardware prices have skyrocketedthanks to the AI boom, with the biggest pain points the increasing prices of storage (such as SSDs) and memory (RAM) alongside the lack of supply. In response, many companies have increased prices to compensate, but those price hikes have caused hardware sales toreach a 35-year lowas gamers tighten their belts thanks to the overall state of the economy.

No one is safe from these price increases it seems. Even the unflappable Nintendo hasslightly increasedthe price of the Switch 2 recently due to the "impact of various changes in market conditions".

It's a bad sign all around if you're a video game enjoyer and it doesn't seem like this crisis will be ending anytime soon.

Rosie O'Donnell reveals that she got a facelift despite thinking she never would: 'This is me'

Rosie O'Donnell explained on a Substack piece and social media Tuesday that she had a facelift.

  • The former The View host wrote that she had thought she'd never do such a thing but felt her weight loss made her look like she was "melting."

  • After much thought, O'Donnell underwent the procedure, but she said no one has noticed.

Rosie O'Donnellhas officially introduced her new look.

The comedian and actress explained Tuesday onsocial mediathat she's undergone a facelift, something that she had previously been against. O'Donnell acknowledged her earlier take on the subject.

"I used to feel very strongly about facelifts. Not casually—morally," theSleepless in Seattlestar wrote in an abbreviated version of aSubstackentry. "I had assigned myself as head of all women who would never-ever. I thought it was a betrayal. Of feminism. Of aging. Of our team of women worldwide."

Not anymore. O'Donnell wrote that it was weight loss that changed her mind.

"And then I lost 50 pounds…" she noted. "It wasn't wrinkles— it was gravity. I'd look in the mirror and think, this isn't aging, this is… melting with intention. I tried to be evolved about it. And say things like, 'This is natural. This is earned.' And then… 'umm how earned does it have to look?' There's a point where acceptance starts to feel like lying."

The mother of five wrote that her 13-year-old daughter, Clay, whom she shared with late ex-wife Michelle Rounds, told her that she "wouldn't be able to respect" her if she went through with the procedure, something O'Donnell herself once would have said.

But she came to an important realization.

"If I'm teaching Clay anything," O'Donnell wrote, "it can't be that my body belongs to an idea either. Even a good idea. Even feminism. Because that's still not freedom — that's just a different authority telling you what you're allowed to do with your own face. I want them to grow up in a world where they don't feel like they have to change but also knows they can, if they want to, without losing moral standing in their own life. So in January, I did it."

She said that she turned to a doctor who had done work on friends of hers who "all still looked like themselves, just like they had recently been told good news."

Just before the procedure, O'Donnell recalled that she told her doctor she would never wish that they did more.

"I wanted to still be me, just… less haunted. And I do look like me — a slightly more well-rested emotionally stable version of me," O'Donnell wrote. "And here's the thing—no one has noticed. Not one person. Not a friend, not a stranger, not even people who owe me compliments. My teen daughter, has not said a word. Nothing. I went through a full existential feminist crisis, had my face and neck surgically altered, and the result is… zippo. Which honestly is the best possible outcome."

O'Donnell wrote too that she's grateful for the ability to "feel and choose and use my voice," unlike in the '90s before she felt comfortable coming out as a lesbian.

She concluded, "This is me."

Commenters were largely supportive: "Feminism has nothing to do with looking good and rested it’s about self confidence when gravity hits us all," one wrote.

Added another fan, "This is so vulnerable to admit. You can always change your opinions on things, and I love that you are speaking about it. You look great!"

O'Donnell famously relocated to Ireland in 2025, ahead of President Donald Trump's return to the presidency. The two havepublicly clashedfor decades.

Chelsea Handler Reveals She and the Younger ‘Cowboy’ Boyfriend She Met in Vegas Broke Up After 6 Months

NEED TO KNOW

  • "That was a really fun, like, adventure. We had a great five, six months together," Handler shared on Let's Be Honest with Kristen Cavallari

  • Handler shared that she prefers casual romances and has no desire to be part of a “unit” or traditional couple at this stage of her life

Chelsea Handlerand her "cowboy" have gone their separate ways.

While appearing onLet’s Be Honest with Kristin Cavallari, the comedian, 51, opened up about hermost recent relationshipwith a younger man whose identityshe has kept private, revealing that the romance ended after roughly six months.

Despite the split, Handler said there are no hard feelings between them — she simply isn’t interested in pursuing a long-term relationship at this stage of her life.

"The last guy I was dating, I met him in Vegas at a blackjack table. That was a really fun, like, adventure," Handler said. "We had a great five, six months together."

According to Handler, the breakup was amicable — and largely driven by her own lack of interest in pursuing a long-term relationship. The comedian admitted that around the six-month mark, she typically feels ready to move on, explaining that’s her “timeline” until the initial “buzz” wears off.

Even though the romance has ended, Handler said she and her ex remain friends. Because the relationship was casual from the start, she believes maintaining a friendship is possible.

“Maybe I’ll see him again, maybe we’ll fool around again,” she said, noting that she simply doesn’t want the expectations that come with defining the relationship.

Handler also clarified that publicly sharing photos of her “cowboy” earlier this year wasn’t meant to signal anything especially serious. "I post guys all the time that I'm dating," she explained. "I'm not posting them saying, 'this is my boyfriend.' It's like, who I'm spending time with."

At this stage of her life, Handler said she’s not interested in a committed, long-term partnership. Instead, she prefers relationships that remain lighthearted and uncomplicated.

"I am not a long-term person. I'm not interested in anything that comes after the six-month relationship mark," Handler admitted, "I'm not interested in dealing with your family or your issues. I am not interested."

"I don't want to be part of a unit. I want to have a good, sexy affair. I don't want to be a couple," she added.

Ideally, Handler would welcome a connection with a person who doesn't live nearby — "someone who I see probably, like, every two weeks" — and who's willing to travel with her. A large part of her interest in someone hinges on their ability to go on "fun trips," she said.

Brad Keselowski Details Final Encounter with Kyle Busch on Plane Days Before NASCAR Icon’s Tragic Death at 41 (Exclusive)

Brad Keselowski reflects on his rivalry with the late Kyle Busch in an interview with PEOPLE

NEED TO KNOW

  • He recalls their final encounter on a plane days before Busch died suddenly at age 41, noting Busch seemed unwell but he didn't think much of it

  • Keselowski also recalls having "visions" that the longtime NASCAR rivals might have reconciled someday

Brad Keselowski once had “visions” of him and rivalKyle Buschburying the hatchet in their old age. Now, he's remembering their final moments together.

Busch died at age 41 on Thursday, May 21,from severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. Speaking with PEOPLE four days later, Keselowski, 42, recalled seeing the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion — his longtime rival — on a plane days before his sudden death.

“I was flying to Dover last week with Kyle,” he told PEOPLE on Monday, May 25, adding that “it was probably more by chance than anything else.”

Busch — who won his final race at the 2026 Ecosave 200 in the Delaware capital — was acting a bit differently than usual, Keselowski said of their final run-in outside of the racetrack.

“Kyle is normally a fairly gregarious person, very outgoing and he wasn't. He sat down one row behind me and next to me and fell asleep right away and I could tell he wasn't feeling well,” Keselowski said, adding that at the time, he “didn't really think that much of it, to be honest.”

“And that was pretty much the last time I saw him. We were in a race and you get in a race and you don't really see each other,” the Michigan native added. “So I saw him on the racetrack.”

Keselowski also shared that he is going to miss the “rivalry” he shared with Busch, and revealed that he often thought about putting it behind them someday.

“I guess I had visions before his death of... actually, I thought about this multiple times: What's it going to be like when we're both in the Hall of Fame and we're doing some kind of ceremony together, whatever that might be? Will the hatchet be buried? I think so,” he told PEOPLE. “And will we actually be able to share a laugh about it? I guess in my mind, I hope so and now obviously not.”

“The hard part is the closure was supposed to be when we were retired and when we were done racing together and I don't think that's just for me, by the way,” he later added. “I think that's for a lot of people. And to not get that is tough.”

But Keselowski clarified, “The loss of Kyle Busch is much greater than how it affects me, and so I don't wish to belittle that.”

Brad KeselowskiCredit: David Jensen/Getty

Of their rivalry, Keselowski also told PEOPLE that it changed shape over time, but how he finished in a race next to Busch was always on top of his mind.

“For whatever reason, Kyle and I had built into a relationship where although there's 30-some other drivers on the racetrack, I valued meeting him more than anyone else,” he explained. “Fifth place day and race is generally a good day. It's not a great day, but it's a good day. With a fifth place day where Kyle Busch finished fourth didn't feel like a good day. And conversely, a 10th place day where I beat Kyle Busch felt like a better day.”

“That's what a rivalry is at its core and that's how I felt about it," added Keselowski.

That being said, the NASCAR driver told PEOPLE, “time has a way of changing things. And I'll tell you as I reflect on it, what I'm going to miss the most about Kyle is the rivalry.”

“It's the middle of the season head-on one-on-ones that we had at different racetracks, and knowing he was the guy to beat and I was the guy to beat him," he continued. "And him knowing that, and kind of having that rivalry where we didn't talk to each other.”

“And when we were in settings together, we stood on opposite ends of the room,” Keselowski added. “In the moment, that didn't feel all that pleasant, but it sure beats the reality of today.”

NEED TO KNOW

  • The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame asked him to perform at his induction in November, but he declined due to readiness concerns

  • Collins hinted at possibly returning to music in the future

Phil Collinsis sharing a positive update on his health — and what that means for the possibility of future performances.

Though the legendary drummer, 75, has been plagued by anumber of health issuesover the past few years, he told theBBCin a new interview that the past 18 months or so have been “fine” for him.

“Before that, not so good. Everything healthwise caught up with me at the same time and whatever could go wrong did go wrong. But everything's fine now,” Collins said. “I had problems with my knee, which I had for a while, but I played through it, toured through it. But eventually I had to have a knee operation and I had to have [it] five times because it kept either getting infected or it broke, you know. So I was inactive for a long time.”

The “In the Air Tonight” singer is set to beinducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fameas a solo artist in November. Though he's been feeling better, Collins said it's unlikely he will perform at the induction ceremony.

“I can't really see it happening, but I'm healthier now than I have been for quite a while,” he said.

Collins — who was inducted as a member of Genesis in 2010 — confirmed that he had been asked by the Rock Hall to perform, but turned down the offer, as he didn't quite feel he was ready.

“You can't just go on stage. You have to rehearse. And then by that point, if you've not been singing, your voice is going to be shot and then that's not going to be good. So I'd rather not do it,” he explained.

Still, the rocker didn't close the door on one day returning to a different stage, saying it's something he “would contemplate.”

“I mean, I'm constantly saying to myself, ‘I gotta go back down to my studio at home,'” he said. “I've got lots of lyrical ideas I write down. And there are things that are half-formed, and a couple of things that are finished. So there's things that I can get my teeth into to start working on.”

He last released an album of original material,Testify, in 2002.

Collins retired from playing drums in 2022 after his health woes made itdifficult for him to pick up a drumstick. He's undergone back and knee surgery in recent years, and said in a 2024 documentary that playing the drums since age 5 has “taken its toll” on his hands and legs.

In January, he told the BBC that his health issues are an “ongoing thing,” and he has a24-hour live-in nurse.

“I've had challenges with my knee. I had everything that could go wrong with me, did go wrong with me,” he said. “I got COVID in hospital. My kidneys started to back up. Everything seemed to converge at the same time… I can walk, albeit with assistance, you know, crutches or whatever.”

The star made arare public appearanceearlier this month alongside his ex-wife Jill Collins, Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster at The King's Trust 50th Anniversary Party at Buckingham Palace.

“Despite the downpours of torrential rain which did not seem to dampen the festivities @officialphilcollins and I were very proud and honored to be there and have a few private moments with King Charles who seemed genuinely pleased to see Phil who was the very first ambassador 40 years ago and a trustee even before that! We ran into @sirrodstewart and @penny.lancaster among other old (in the nicest sense of the word) friends," Jill wrote on Instagram.
