After five decades, the band is still going strong, which prompted Jones to express his pride, gratitudeand amazement at the band’s long-lasting success.

“Fifty years is a long time,” he said, as cited byBillboard, adding “and I am certainly proud of the fact. I did not have any idea that Foreigner would have such a long life…. The life expectations of band was pretty low when we started. So what’s happened has been unbelievable, really.”

To celebrate their 50th anniversary, the band is booked and busy for a string of shows for theirglobal tour.

Starting the tour is the North American leg, which kicked off on March 25 in Idaho, followed by a three-night run in Washington, before moving to Florida this April.

How a Serial Killer’s Case Could Provide Nancy Guthrie Breakthrough

CeCe Moore, a genealogist, says that a technique used to catch Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann could come in handy amid the search forNancy Guthrieafter her February 1 disappearance.

TV Insider Savannah and Nancy Guthrie

Moore appeared onBrian Entin Investigatesafter it was confirmed by the FBI that they were analyzingDNA evidencefound at Guthrie’s home “over two months ago.” Theevidence, which is reported to be a hair sample, was initially sent to a lab in Florida and is now in the hands of the FBI for more testing.

Specific details about theDNA samplehave not been confirmed, but Moore theorizes that it is a rootless piece of hair, noting that if it had a root, the analysis would be complete already.

“I’ve been really hoping that maybe they had some hair to work with,” Moore admits. “Because of the more recent advancements in the field, hair actually can make the case solvable. So I’m really excited.”

In the Heuermann case, a judge ruled that “cutting-edge advanced DNA testing” was allowed in trial, but the serial killer ended up pleading guilty, perCBS News. “While relatively new… the principles used are accepted as reliable in the scientific community,” the judge noted.

However, Moore also points out that the hair sample from Guthrie’s home may not even belong to a suspect, so even if an identification is made via the analysis, it may not lead to the person who abductedSavannah Guthrie‘s mother. In the Heuermann case, the serial killer’s hair was found on “six of the seven victims,” but some samples were also traced back to his wife and daughter, who were not accused of being involved in his crimes.

Heuermann pleaded guilty for his crimes, which took place between 1993 and 2010, on April 8. He will receive his prison sentence in June.

While Watts noted she doesn’t know “if it goes that far with the kids,” the topic prompted her to tell a personal anecdote involving one ofher children.

“I mean, I do remember the first time one of my kids saw lube in the bedroom, and they were like, ‘What?’ And I said, ‘Yes, yes, you know, by the way, lube is sold at Urban Outfitters now.’ And they're like, ‘No way, no way!’” she told the outlet.

Home shopping pioneer QVC plans bankruptcy protection filing as consumers jump on deals elsewhere

NEW YORK (AP) — The owner of home shopping network pioneer QVC — which for years garnered the attention of millions of TV viewers looking for a deal on baubles and housewares, is planning to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Associated Press FILE - Corporate signage is shown outside a QVC facility in West Chester, Pa., Friday, July 7, 2017. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke, File) FILE - In this Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 photo shown is a sign at a QVC facility in West Chester, Pa. (AP Photo/Matt Rourke, File)

QVC-Bankruptcy Protection

A filing about imminent bankruptcy protection by parent company QVC Group, which also owns HSN, formerly the Home Shopping Network, arrives as long-running TV shopping networks struggle to adapt to the rapid shift by consumers now tuning in to livestreams on TikTok, or online marketplaces like Shein.

According to anannual reportfiled with the Securities and Exchange Commission this week, the company said that it intends to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas after reaching a restructuring agreement with creditors.

Its goal is to emerge from bankruptcy protection before the summer is over, but the West Chester, Pennsylvania, company warned that its access to funding is difficult to predict. It noted significant fees and other costs in connection with the preparation for the bankruptcy protection.

“We cannot assure that cash on hand, cash flow from operations will be sufficient to continue to fund our operations,” it wrote.

QVC Group has attempted to revive flagging sales for some time, which in 2024 were down almost 30% compared with its peak of more than $14 billion in 2020. Shares in QVC Group, which went for over $900 a decade ago, were trading for less than $3 earlier this week.

Founded in 1986 by Joseph Myron Segel, QVC, which is short for Quality Value Convenience, built a following primarily of women aged 50 and older, according to Lawrence Duke, a clinical professor of marketing at the university’s LeBow College of Business. He said in a blog post that QVC benefited from repeat purchases by its base of viewers. But that group has aged and is shrinking, he noted.

And competition has increased substantially.

Consumers have increasingly dropped cable subscriptions and look less and less to scheduled programming, Duke said. Such programming has been replaced by live platforms such as TikTok Shop, where consumers can buy products touted by influencers with tens of thousands of followers on Instagram and YouTube. Low-cost marketplaces like Shein and Temu are also commanding more attention, Duke wrote.

QVC has significantly expanded its digital sales and expanded its presence on social media, but those maneuvers have fallen short.

QVC "competes in a crowded marketplace where attention is fragmented and switching costs are low,” Duke said.
