GWEN Stefani has switched up her wardrobe because the country music industry struggled to accept her as Blake Shelton's wife, a psychologist has claimed.
She said Gwen's latest array of "frumpy" outfits was about pleasing her husband, but it "mistakenly" jarred with her "extremely young face."
Gwen, 54, and Blake, 47, released a duet in February called Purple Iris.
On Instagram, Gwen shared a promotional photo of herself dressed in a dark blue denim jumpsuit.
The singer was clinging to her country star husband.
"They're ACTORS," commented one fan.
On Valentine's Day, the former No Doubt frontwoman appeared on the Jimmy Kimmel set to share the details of the couple's music efforts.
Gwen wore a pink frilly jumpsuit. Her bright blonde hair was styled to make it look bigger.
"The person that has zero fashion sense!" commented one follower.
"What is this look?" asked another.
Fashion psychologist Professor Carolyn Mair said Gwen's new style was "aging her," claiming it juxtaposed quite badly with her "transformed face."
"Gwen has completely transformed her face, but her new clothes are frumpy," Mair told The U.S. Sun.

"The clothes and face are incongruous because, facially, she looks younger than when she was around 18.
"Now Gwen sometimes looks super frumpy with her fashion choice and bigger, blonder hair.
"The recent clothes look like somebody in their 70s or 80s would wear them with long sleeves, frills, and all this material.
"Her new clothes look suitable for an elderly person.
"This is a big step away from Gwen's previous well-put-together pop star looks."
Blake and Gwen met when they coached on The Voice in 2015.
They tied the knot in 2021 but more recently have been plagued with rumors of difficulty in the marriage.
Blake and Gwen started 2024 with tours, gigs, and solo business projects, meaning spending time apart.
Mair said Gwen's style change suggested she could be "deliberately" trying to please her husband.
"It seems that Gwen is working on fitting in with Blake and the country music scene," she said.

Over the last two decades, Gwen has built up a tremendous music career for herself as a pop star and then a coach on The Voice.
She has become famed for wearing plenty of statement outfits and glamorous styles.
In her No Doubt years, she dressed in bikini tops and low-rise cargo pants.
As she matured, she took fashion risks and turned to luxury designers.

"This means she is portraying this through her fashion choices.
"This is part of her life, but now her face and clothes just do not go together.
"Usually, when you get older, certainly from your mid-30s, you begin to know your fashion style.
"You begin to know what suits you and what does not.
"This might not be the case for Gwen."

When Gwen and Blake started dating after meeting on the show in 2015, they were both coming through breakups.
Gwen was married to rocker Gavin Rossdale, and Blake to country star Miranda Lambert.

Country icon Dolly Parton spoke about the new couple with Gwen suddenly connected to her scene.
"I think they look great as a couple, and they've both been through similar things," Dolly told E! in 2016.
"I met her when I was out there in Los Angeles doing The Voice, and she seems very sweet."

"The country music industry is different, and so is the fashion.
"Being Blake Shelton's wife is likely to dominate part of her social life and become her social identity.
